Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Appellate & Motion Practice Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience handling appellate matters, complex motion practice, or related litigation support work.
This position requires a high level of motivation, flexibility, initiative, and the ability to independently manage assignments from inception through completion. The ideal candidate should demonstrate exceptional judgment, strong and professional communication skills, and a polished writing style. The attorney will collaborate with attorneys and support matters across the firm’s footprint. Responsibilities include:
• Drafting and editing appellate briefs, motions, memoranda of law, and other substantive legal filings.
• Conducting comprehensive legal research and developing persuasive legal arguments.
• Reviewing trial records, transcripts, and evidentiary materials to identify appealable issues.
• Preparing motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and other dispositive applications.
• Assisting trial teams by analyzing legal issues and crafting pre-trial, post-trial, and strategic motions.
• Managing deadlines, appellate calendars, and procedural requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Participating in oral arguments when appropriate and supporting senior attorneys in appellate proceedings.
• Maintaining strong client relationships through responsiveness, strategic guidance, and adherence to client guidelines.
• Accurately recording and maintaining billable hours while ensuring all deadlines are met.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
• Admission to practice in the State of New York is required ( Admission to practice in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania is a plus.)
• Federal Court and appellate court experience are strongly preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in appellate work, motion practice, or complex legal research and writing.
• Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills, with a commitment to producing error-free, persuasive legal work.
• Demonstrated experience drafting substantive motions, briefs, and responding to complex legal issues.
• Trial experience or litigation support experience is a plus.
• Fully remote, 1900 billable requirement.
• Salary is DOE.
