As a Campus Security Supervisor, you'll be an integral part of our team, working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and other staff members to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the campus, parking lots, lunch areas, and high school building to prevent property damage, provide security, and regulate unauthorized persons from being on campus.
- Conduct timely perimeter checks of the campus to identify and address potential security risks.
- Maintain camera systems, including installing, monitoring, and burning videos as needed.
- Mediate student conflicts, investigate drug and alcohol cases, complete student searches, and communicate with School Resource Officers (SROs) when necessary.
- Monitor students to eliminate truancy and prevent physical altercations, disagreements, and drug and alcohol use on campus.
- Assist teachers with disruptive students and provide support to administrators in maintaining front office security.
- Implement and enforce attendance policy and dress code, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students.
- Supervise drills, evening events (such as games, dances, and school events), and graduation ceremonies, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for participants and spectators.
- Assist with event setup as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support the school community.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with specialized courses in law enforcement and/or security preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- A desire to work with at-risk youth, demonstrating empathy, understanding, and a commitment to their well-being.
- Knowledge of and experience in law enforcement, with the ability to make effective decisions in ambiguous situations.
- Operating knowledge of and experience with computers, telephone, and two-way radio, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies.
- The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with a good physical presence and stamina.
- The ability to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check, ensuring the highest level of integrity and trustworthiness.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Two years of experience working with at-risk youth, with some experience in law enforcement or security preferred.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Advanced customer service and public relations skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the broader community.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze situations and develop effective solutions.
