About the Role
As a Customer Service Agent, you'll work in a dynamic environment, multitasking with ease and providing legendary service to our customers at the ticket counter, baggage service office, and gate area. You'll be responsible for ensuring a seamless travel experience, handling customer inquiries, resolving issues, and going above and beyond to make our customers feel valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly, patient, and personalized service to internal and external customers
- Operate a computerized point-of-sale system to handle ticketing, check-in, and boarding processes
- Manage cash, checks, credit cards, travel vouchers, and coupons as forms of payment
- Check in baggage and cargo, and handle related issues or complaints
- Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders via phone, face-to-face, and public address systems
- Resolve customer complaints and issues related to oversells, delayed or cancelled flights, lost or damaged luggage
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information on fares, schedules, and flight information
- Complete forms and reports as required by the company, including irregularity and complaint reports
- Work in a team environment to ensure the success of our company and achieve customer satisfaction
Essential Qualifications
To succeed as a Customer Service Agent at Southwest Airlines, you'll need:
- The ability to type and/or use a computer keyboard with sufficient speed to meet demands of the job
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and colleagues
- The ability to work well under pressure, handling multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A positive and friendly demeanor, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service
- The ability to lift and/or move items up to 70 pounds on a regular basis and repetitively lift and/or move weights of 40 to 50 pounds onto raised surfaces
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
- Foreign language skills (desirable but not required)
- Previous customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in a union-based role, adhering to collective bargaining agreement guidelines
