Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Moderate to Intense Intervention Specialist Teacher to join our team at the Metzenbaum Center. Key Responsibilities
- Establish productive relationships with students, staff members, administrators, and family members to create a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
- Develop and teach engaging lessons that are grounded in best practices and research-based methods, using positive behavioral strategies to support a high-quality learning environment.
- Collaborate with other staff members, including speech, occupational, and physical therapists, to design and implement customized learning plans for students with complex needs.
- Provide accommodations, modifications, and interventions to students with disabilities, and provide specialized instruction in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Complete written progress reports and participate in regularly scheduled team meetings to discuss student progress and determine priorities for individualized educational needs.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records, and assist in the collection of data to inform instruction and intervention strategies.
Essential Qualifications
- ODE Teaching License with a specialization in Special Education or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience working with students with severe and multiple disabilities, or a willingness to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff members, administrators, and family members.
- A passionate, collaborative, and energetic disposition, with a commitment to professional development and ongoing learning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment in all aspects of the role.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite, email, and internet, with the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and possess a valid Ohio driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a specialized resource room or similar setting, with a strong understanding of best practices in special education.
- Knowledge of positive behavioral strategies and techniques, with the ability to implement these strategies in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
