We're seeking a dedicated and passionate Student Ministries Pastor to be part of our pastoral staff and drive our disciple-making ministry with students and young adults. First Evangelical Free Church has a rich history, dating back to 1884 when it was founded as "The Scandinavian Church of Christ." Over the years, we've evolved into a diverse congregation of 490 regular attendees. Our church is located in a highly visible area within the historical Lake Nokomis community, making it an ideal hub for outreach and community engagement. Our staff is committed to leading and serving our community, and we're looking for someone who shares our vision and values.
Job Summary
The Student Ministries Pastor will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining a disciple-making ministry with students and young adults. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to balance your time between our remote office and home. As a key member of our pastoral staff, you'll support the overall mission of First Free, promoting the vision and a process for multiplying healthy workers and leaders in the body of Christ.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive disciple-making ministry for students and young adults, aligning with the church's vision and mission.
- Build and nurture relationships with volunteers, parents, and other leaders to foster a collaborative ministry environment.
- Design and implement engaging programs, events, and teaching sessions that cater to the spiritual needs of young people.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to ministry, embracing creativity and innovation in reaching students and young adults with the gospel.
- Effectively communicate with students, parents, and the church community through various channels, including social media.
- Oversee the administrative aspects of the student ministries, ensuring efficient management of events, programming, and teams.
- Foster a culture of leadership development among students and young adults, equipping them to become disciples of Jesus Christ and leaders in the body of Christ.
- Collaborate with other church staff members to promote the overall mission and vision of First Evangelical Free Church.

Essential Qualifications:
- A deep, personal faith in Jesus Christ, demonstrated through an established prayer life, healthy Bible study habits, and a heart for God.
- Evidence of the Holy Spirit's work in your life, reflected in your character and qualities.
- A heart, vision, and passion for leading students to follow Jesus and become disciples.
- Proven ability to work effectively with volunteers, parents, and other leaders as partners in ministry.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to, communicate with, and teach students in a way that is engaging and relevant.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and leadership skills, with experience in managing events, programming, and teams.
- A willingness to creatively try new approaches to reach students and young adults with the gospel.
- Proven experience in directing student ministries in a leadership role.
- Proficient understanding of the challenges and needs of young people, with a commitment to addressing these needs through ministry.
- Proficiency in the use of technology, including social media, to communicate and engage with students and young adults.
- A four-year degree with ministry training, demonstrating a commitment to theological education and ministry preparation.
- In agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith, and a willingness to abide by the Constitution, Bylaws, Vision, and Mission of First Evangelical Free Church.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role within a church or ministry setting.
- A Master's degree in a relevant field, such as theology, ministry, or youth ministry.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective disciple-making strategies among students and young adults.
