Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis, working Friday to Sunday from 6 pm to 2:30 am CST. As a remote position, you will be part of a 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention focused team, providing critical support to individuals in need. Key Responsibilities
- Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals experiencing emotional distress
- Answer crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources
- Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide
- Meet ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation requirements
- Actively participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
- Six months to one year of related crisis experience
- Effective communication skills via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods
- High-level customer service skills and professional etiquette
- Demonstrated knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and community resources
- Knowledge of suicide assessments and skill in providing crisis intervention
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable:
- Experience working in a crisis intervention or mental health setting
- Familiarity with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) and 988 services
- Certification in crisis intervention or a related field
