Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate ELA/Social Science Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators. As an ELA/Social Science Teacher, you will be responsible for providing differentiated instruction to students in grades 5-8, with a focus on English Language Arts and Social Science. Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and learning standards in ELA and Social Science
- Foster a classroom climate that is conducive to learning and promotes academic excellence
- Utilize instructional management systems that maximize student learning and engagement
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students and monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals
- Plan and supervise assignments for assistants and volunteers to ensure effective use of resources
- Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships to ensure a supportive learning environment
- Meet professional responsibilities as outlined in the Staff Handbook and maintain professional work habits
- Communicate effectively within the educational community to ensure collaboration and teamwork
- Maintain your Professional Educator License as required by law and seek professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education
Essential Qualifications
- A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with 5th-8th and ELA Endorsements
- Multiple Endorsement areas preferred, with a focus on ELA and Social Science
- A completed and submitted online application, resume, and letters of recommendation as required
- Ability to work as a team member and collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals
- Past experience teaching the specific class will be considered first, with recent coursework or student teaching in the subject also considered
- The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred, with a focus on languages relevant to our student population
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Education or a related field, with a focus on ELA and Social Science
- Experience with instructional technology and digital learning platforms
- Knowledge of curriculum design and development, with a focus on creating engaging and effective lesson plans
