About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Fitness Trainer to lead our group fitness program, PE@PF. As a Fitness Trainer, you will be responsible for teaching small-group training classes, designing individual exercise programs for members, and providing exceptional customer service. You will be an integral part of our team, working closely with our members to help them achieve their fitness goals and providing a supportive and encouraging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Properly execute the Planet Fitness PE@PF program according to the provided schedule and class descriptions
- Teach correct exercise form and technique, including progressions and regressions, through demonstration, explanation, and proper cueing and spotting techniques
- Meet with members on a one-on-one basis and in small-group settings to design individual exercise programs and provide guidance on proper equipment use
- Submit training programs and logs to supervisor for review and track training session attendance data into the DataTrak system
- Support the overall operation of the club, including inspecting equipment, stocking supplies, and responding to emergencies as needed
- Assist in front desk related activities, such as answering phones, checking members into the system, and introducing new members to the gym and PE@PF program
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
- High School diploma/GED equivalent required
- Prior experience in personal or group training or a bachelor's degree in exercise science preferred
- Current CPR Certification required (paid for by employer)
- Current training certification from an organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
- A passion for fitness and health, with an upbeat and positive attitude
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers
- Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve
- Familiarity with designing small group programs that utilize a variety of exercises and modalities
- Basic software computer applications proficiency, including being able to utilize basic databases, metrics, scheduling, and email
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Knowledge of Google Suite, DataTrak, or similar software
- Experience with designing and leading small-group fitness classes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

We offer a competitive starting wage of $13.50-15/hour, with potential advancement after 6 months, plus a $1 shift premium between the hours of 10pm-7am. Our benefits package includes:
