Job Overview and Responsibilities
We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Jersey City, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer the highest pay rates among substitute providers, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Our ideal candidate will be a team player who is dedicated to providing high-quality education to students and supporting the school community.
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Teaching students in a classroom setting, following the lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular teacher
- Managing the classroom environment, ensuring that students are engaged and focused on their learning
- Providing individualized support to students as needed, and adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of the students
- Communicating effectively with school administrators, teachers, and other staff members to ensure a smooth and successful teaching experience
- Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
- Building positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications and requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (we will cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
