Key Responsibilities and Expectations
As a Customer Service Representative at blithequark, you will be the front-line support for the Veterans Experience Office's premier Contact Center. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Understanding and explaining Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) services or procedures to callers
- Asking clarifying questions to identify complex or vague requests for VA services and information
- Accurately recording details of calls and other service requests in an expected time frame
- Selecting appropriate VA services to meet the specific needs of customers
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with VA employees, outside agencies, and the public
- Utilizing a multi-screen computer system, including a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application
- Maintaining confidentiality and privacy of callers
- Organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks to ensure efficient and effective customer service
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Six months of work experience in a customer service and call center environment
- A reliable high-speed internet connection (minimum 25 mbps download and 10 mbps upload) without delay
- A dedicated work-at-home environment that is ergonomically sound, quiet, and free from distractions
- The ability to work under pressure, remaining calm and effective when dealing with escalating or difficult calls
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to "think on your feet" and offer additional solutions to problems
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Familiarity with the military and veteran community programs is a plus
- U.S. Military Veteran or Veteran family members will receive additional consideration
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Green Card Holder
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
