Job Summary
We are seeking out an Experienced Full Stack Data Engineer to join our crew at Disney Direct to Consumer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data platform that powers our flagship streaming services, including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+. You will work closely with our cross-functional team of engineers to develop software for a large-scale data processing environment, ensuring real-time and batch data that underpins all analytic and operational data flows. Responsibilities and Duties of the Role
- Lead a cross-functional team of engineers to build software for a large-scale data processing environment, assisting real-time and batch data that underpins all analytic and operational data flows.
- Build tools and services to support data discovery, lineage, resiliency, and privacy compliance across the data platform.
- Design and develop Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) methods for infrastructure components that ensure high availability and agility.
- Drive software engineering and architecture best practices and requirements within the team and wider organization, including a culture of quality, innovation, and experimentation.
- Provide mentorship and guidance for team members; evangelize the platform, best-practices, data-driven decisions; identify new use cases and features and drive adoption.
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced data engineer with a strong background in software development, data processing, and cloud computing. The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Fluency with Python and Scala.
- Deep experience deploying and operating cloud-based data solutions (ideally AWS) and infrastructure-as-code frameworks like Terraform.
- Ability to dive deep into any technical issue, as well as understand and drive the overall system architecture.
- You care deeply about craftsmanship in your software, and can work backwards from the customer experience.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience maintaining real-time data infrastructure, including Kinesis or Kafka.
- Expertise with workflow scheduler tools, including Airflow.
- Experience with Scala, Python, Terraform, and AWS.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a base salary of $35-$45 per hour, as well as a bonus and/or long-term performance incentive devices.
