Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Counsel to join our team in California. This is a remote work opportunity that offers a reduced schedule and a competitive salary. As a Counsel with our firm, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of labor and employment law matters, including single-plaintiff employment lawsuits, administrative charges, and client counseling. You will be responsible for leading and managing cases, developing defense strategies, and providing litigation recommendations to clients. Key Responsibilities
- Handle single-plaintiff employment lawsuits from start to finish with minimal oversight, including drafting responsive pleadings, handling discovery, and attending arbitration and mediation
- Develop and implement defense strategies for clients, including drafting motions and briefs, and negotiating settlements
- Work directly with clients and firm partners to foster strong relationships and provide excellent client service
- Manage and litigate administrative charges, including defending investigations, preparing position statements, and representing clients in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits
- Collaborate with other lawyers and staff to achieve common goals and objectives
- Stay up-to-date with developments in labor and employment law and apply this knowledge to client matters
Essential Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in labor and employment law, preferably on the defense side
- Admission to the California state bar
- Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience handling single-plaintiff employment lawsuits from start to finish with minimal oversight
- Top law firm experience and a strong reputation in the legal community
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with clients in a variety of industries, including technology, healthcare, and finance
- Knowledge of California labor and employment laws, including the California Labor Code and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act
- Experience with alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration
- Strong business development skills and the ability to attract and retain clients
