Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Ocean Product Development and Carrier Management Specialist to support the growth of our ocean volumes and enhance our ocean product offerings. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that drive business growth, improve service quality, and maximize competitiveness. Your expertise in ocean freight forwarding, carrier development, and pricing will be invaluable in helping us achieve our goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to increase ocean volumes, enhance service quality, and maximize competitiveness
- Collaborate with the MD of Ocean and cross-functional teams to support carrier development, pricing, and service issues
- Analyze carrier performance, routings, and service issues to identify areas for improvement
- Assist in implementing pricing programs and review volume targets to achieve business objectives
- Communicate strategy, market conditions, and direction to internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with sales and operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are met or exceeded
- Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity
- Manage annual budget and control, monitor, and report results to achieve budget targets
- Develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product with the marketing team
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, with direct ocean experience
- Proven track record of working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing
- Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills
- Leadership skills with the ability to direct and influence teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a global logistics company
- Familiarity with industry trends and regulatory requirements
- Certifications or training in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
