About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Online Instructor of Philosophy to join our team of adjunct faculty members in the Division of Liberal Arts. As a part-time instructor, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of courses in philosophy, including introductory and advanced courses, as well as online and hybrid courses. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your knowledge and passion for philosophy with students from diverse backgrounds and to contribute to the growth and development of our institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of courses in philosophy, including introductory and advanced courses, as well as online and hybrid courses.
- Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback to students.
- Stay current with developments in the field of philosophy and incorporate relevant research and best practices into your teaching.
- Participate in departmental and institutional meetings and activities as needed.
- Support the institution's mission and vision and abide by the Faculty Handbook and college-wide policies.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:
- A Master's degree in philosophy or a Master's degree in any discipline with 18 graduate semester hours in philosophy.
- Previous experience teaching online courses is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators.
- Ability to use learning management systems and other technology to support teaching and learning.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Ph.D. in philosophy or a related field.
- Experience teaching a variety of courses in philosophy, including introductory and advanced courses.
- Experience teaching online and hybrid courses.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and creating inclusive learning environments.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
