Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Part-time Barista to join our Food Service team. As a Part-time Barista, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, taking orders, preparing food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This is a part-time position, expected to work 16 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate of $16.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a friendly manner and take food and drink orders.
- Identify prices of products and services and tabulate bills with available equipment.
- Take payment from customers and ensure accurate transactions by balancing cash register at the beginning and end of shift, and sales at the end of shift.
- Prepare and serve beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones.
- Prepare and serve food items such as soups, sandwiches, and pastries.
- Answer customers' questions about menu choices and promote and recommend menu options to customers.
- Maintain inventory and equipment by cleaning and restocking supplies.
- Keep the work environment sanitary and organized.
Essential Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated experience handling US currency.
- Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.
- Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers & calculator.
- Food Handlers Permit (if hired within 14 days).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a food service environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn college systems.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
