Job Description
We are seeking a part-time experienced bookkeeper to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining our financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. As a Full-Charge Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing our financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our tax filings. Key Responsibilities
- Review, reconcile, and approve settlement statements and checklists to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Maintain accurate financial records, recording day-to-day financial transactions, and ensuring the integrity of our financial data.
- Process payments for all case costs and operating expenses on an accrual basis, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
- Prepare and issue checks for weekly delivery, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed.
- Process all deposits through RDC, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations on a monthly basis, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data.
- Reconcile case costs with case management system on a monthly basis, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed.
- Manage online banking and credit card processing, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
- Process payroll and payroll tax deposits through EFTPS, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Process payroll for the partners, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing.
- Prepare quarterly payroll tax returns: Forms 941 and RT-6, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Prepare annual payroll tax returns: Forms 940, W-2's, and W-3, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Work with our CPA Firm to ensure tax filings are accurate and timely, maintaining a high level of compliance with accounting standards.
- Administer 401k and Cash Balance retirement plans, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee benefits.
- Prepare and submit year-end 1099-NEC forms electronically, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for Partners to review every 10th of the month, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain all business insurance coverages by processing applications and working with agent(s) for adequate policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain annual report filings for all corporations and partnership, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:
- A strong background in accounting principles and practices, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in trust fund accounting.
- Proficiency in desktop QuickBooks, with experience in managing financial transactions and preparing financial statements.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and reporting requirements, with experience in preparing and submitting tax filings.
- Law firm bookkeeping/billing experience, with a strong understanding of the unique financial requirements of a litigation firm.
- A valid liability insurance policy, ensuring that you are adequately protected against financial risks.
