Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Product Owner who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, marketing, and business stakeholders, to realize the vision of our products. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the airline industry, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment. As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for eliciting business requirements from stakeholders, representing the voice of the business and the customer, and working closely with engineers to deliver high-powered software applications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Business Acumen and Stakeholder Management: Develop strong relationships with stakeholders, including business leaders, product managers, and engineers, to understand business requirements and represent the voice of the customer.
- Product Development and Delivery: Collaborate with scrum teams and other stakeholders to identify and close product gaps, and work with engineers to deliver high-quality software applications.
- Requirements Gathering and Refining: Elicit business requirements from stakeholders, write user stories, and refine and clarify requirements with both business and IT stakeholders using various artifacts such as process maps, wireframes, and mockups.
- Communication and Presentation: Lead sessions, present findings to all levels of the organization, and communicate effectively with engineers and stakeholders to ensure that requirements are understood and met.
- Partnership and Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers to execute on the product roadmap, work with cross-functional teams to capture business requirements, and collaborate with user experience designers to translate UI design and research into actionable development-ready user stories.
- Quality Assurance and Testing: Work with User Acceptance Testers to ensure that delivered products meet business objectives and launch criteria, and partner with stakeholders to extract defects and opportunities to be converted into the product backlog.
Required Attributes and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential attributes and qualifications:
- Airline Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of the airline industry, including products, services, and trends.
- Business Analyst Experience: 8+ years of business analyst experience, preferably in Omnichannel or eCommerce/Point of sale applications, with at least 2+ years in the airline industry as a Product Owner or Business Analyst.
- Agile Methodologies: Experience working in agile delivery models, including Scrum and Kanban, and familiarity with tools such as JIRA or similar.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Technical Acumen: Adequate technical acumen to communicate effectively with engineers and understand technical tradeoffs.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a relevant field of study preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MS Visio or similar workflow process tools: Familiarity with tools such as MS Visio or similar workflow process tools.
- Experience working with product management teams: Experience working with product management teams to execute on product roadmaps and deliver high-quality products.
- Certifications or Training: Certifications or training in agile methodologies, business analysis, or product ownership.
