About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate School Nurse - LPN - GIS to join our team at Glenwood Middle School. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to our students, promoting health and wellness, and supporting the educational process. You will work closely with our team of educators, support staff, and administrators to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to students, including assessing their health needs, developing care plans, and implementing interventions to promote health and wellness
- Conduct health screenings, vaccinations, and other health-related services as required
- Develop and implement health education programs to promote healthy habits and lifestyles among students
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other support staff to identify and address the health-related needs of students
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and support
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and programs to promote health, wellness, and safety
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in school nursing, including current research, trends, and technologies
Essential Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License, with applicable endorsement(s)
- Current LPN licensure in the state of Illinois
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations
- Knowledge of health education principles and practices
- Experience with electronic health records and other healthcare technologies
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
