Key Responsibilities
- Participate in research to develop solutions to real-world, large-scale problems, leveraging the latest advancements in software engineering and related fields.
- Collaborate with Google research scientists and engineers to design, develop, and implement innovative research projects.
- Contribute to the exploration of new ideas and approaches, driving progress in areas such as Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, Quantum Data Science, Data Science, and Programming Languages.
- Work on projects that may not have a clear deliverable, requiring a high degree of flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Essential Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Software Engineering, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, or Physical Sciences.
- Experience in at least one area of software engineering, such as Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, Quantum Data Science, Data Science, or Programming Languages.
- Strong academic record and a demonstrated passion for research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently attending a US-based university or program.
- Experience as a researcher, including internships, full-time positions, or lab experience.
- A track record of contributing to research communities or initiatives, including publishing papers in conferences or journals.
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as C/C++, Java, MATLAB, Go, or Python.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak and write fluently in English.
