Key Responsibilities
As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, your key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching students in a classroom setting, following the lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular teacher
- Managing the classroom environment, ensuring a safe and respectful space for all students
- Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, adapting to the needs of students with varying learning styles and abilities
- Assessing student progress, providing feedback, and reporting to parents and school administrators as necessary
- Collaborating with other teachers, staff, and school administrators to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
- Participating in professional development opportunities, workshops, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
- Building positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff, demonstrating a commitment to student success and well-being
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot Education will cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience
- Special education or subject-specific expertise (e.g., math, science, English)
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities

- Ability to adapt to new technologies and educational software
