Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
- Develop and implement lesson plans, adapting to the needs of the students and the classroom environment
- Manage classroom behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
Essential Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot Education will cover the cost)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
- Special education experience or certification
- Subject-specific expertise (e.g., Math, Science, English, etc.)
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges
- Strong classroom management skills
- Flexibility and willingness to work varied schedules
- Proficiency in technology, including online learning platforms and tools
