Job Overview
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Substitute Teachers to join our team in Newark, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer the highest pay rates among substitute providers, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and support necessary to excel in the classroom and make a positive impact on the lives of students.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of subjects and grade levels, including but not limited to: Kinder, Early Years, Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, High, SpEd, Special Ed, IEP, Paraprofessional, Teaching Aide, Teaching Assistant, TA, Instructional Assistant, Campus Aide, Yard Supervisor, Math, Science, STEM, English, ELA, History, Social Studies, PE, Music, Art, Drama, Theater Studies, Daycare, Teacher assistant
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with other educators to achieve common goals and objectives
Essential Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references with one by a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check & TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and other educational best practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
