Key Responsibilities
As a First Grade Teacher at St. Regis Catholic School, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational and spiritual journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching all subjects, including English, mathematics, science, and social studies, utilizing the Archdiocese of Detroit curriculum, state benchmarks, and national standards.
- Creating and implementing engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Establishing and maintaining a well-organized and respectful classroom environment that promotes active learning and student engagement.
- Assessing students' academic and social growth through various evaluation tools and providing constructive feedback.
- Communicating regularly with parents and guardians through clear and effective communication systems.
- Participating in professional learning teams, staff meetings, and committee meetings to contribute to the school's ongoing development.
- Maintaining accurate records, including attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Supervising students during non-instructional periods, such as recess, lunch, and bus duty.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will need:
Essential Qualifications:
- A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, K-5 All Subjects.
- Endorsements in ZN, ZO, ZA, or ZS are preferred.
- Experience with Handwriting without Tears and Phonics First curriculum is desirable.
- A strong demonstration of Catholic Christian faith and a willingness to witness this faith through personal example.
- Catechist certification (or a willingness to attain certification).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft 365 platform and virtual learning platforms.
- Established classroom management techniques.
- Proficiency in using technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process, including iPads, Chromebooks, smart boards, and online instructional platforms.
