Unlike traditional telehealth platforms, Shift is designed to help clinicians build lasting patient relationships, grow their professional reputation, and actively participate in shaping the future of virtual care.
We are launching in Utah with virtual urgent care while expanding into longitudinal services such as medical weight management.
The Opportunity
Shift Health is seeking physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners with urgent care or acute care experience who are interested in becoming Founding Clinicians as we launch across Utah.
We're intentionally building a small, engaged group of clinicians who want to do more than simply pick up occasional telehealth shifts. We're looking for providers who enjoy building relationships with patients, believe healthcare can be better, and are excited to help shape a new model of virtual care from the ground up.
As a founding clinician, you'll have the opportunity to:
• Provide virtual urgent care and/or medical weight management services based on your experience and interests.
• Help shape how the platform evolves through direct feedback.
• Build long-term relationships with returning patients.
• Establish yourself as one of the first trusted providers on Shift Health.
• Grow alongside the platform as new services and specialties are introduced.
Responsibilities
• Provide virtual urgent care visits for patients presenting with common acute care concerns.
• Participate in medical weight management services if interested and appropriately qualified.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care through video or digital encounters.
• Document encounters appropriately within the platform's integrated clinical system.
• Collaborate with other clinicians when consultation is appropriate.
• Build continuity with returning patients whenever appropriate.
• Help introduce Shift Health within your professional and local community when appropriate.
• Provide thoughtful feedback that helps improve the platform during its early growth.
Qualifications
Required
• Physician (MD/DO), Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner licensed in Utah.
• Must currently reside in Utah.
• Experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or other acute care settings preferred.
• Comfortable providing care through telehealth technologies.
• Strong clinical judgment and commitment to patient-centered care.
• Interest in helping build a new model of virtual care during its early stages.
Preferred
• Experience or interest in medical weight management.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping grow an early-stage healthcare company.
• Comfortable promoting your professional profile and introducing Shift Health within your local community and professional network.
Structure
• Independent contractor (1099)
• Fully remote
• Flexible scheduling and availability
• Clinicians choose when they are available to accept visits.
• Opportunity to participate in urgent care, medical weight management, or both based on qualifications and interest.
Compensation
Shift Health operates on a transparent revenue model designed to fairly compensate clinicians for the care they provide.
Providers receive 65% of the total visit price for every completed visit.
Typical urgent care visit pricing:
• Standard 15 min visit: $79–$119, depending on complexity.
• Typical provider earnings range from approximately $51–$77 per completed visit, depending on complexity.
Clinicians control their availability and may choose when they are online to accept visits.
Unlike many virtual care platforms, Shift allows patients to favorite providers and schedule directly with clinicians they trust, giving engaged providers the opportunity to build continuity, establish their own patient following, and develop lasting relationships over time.
