About the Role
As a Legal Dictation Transcriptionist, you will play a critical role in transcribing dictated recordings from attorneys and other single voice dictations. Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe Dictated Recordings: Transcribe dictated recordings varying in audio length and quality, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Format Legal Documents: Properly format legal documents, insurance forms, letters, memos, and notes, adhering to client preferences and guidelines.
- Transcribe with Accuracy: Transcribe with proper spelling and capitalization of legal terms, medical terms, locations, and names.
- Conduct Basic Research: Conduct basic research as needed to ensure the accuracy and completeness of your work.
- Adhere to Guidelines: Adhere to E-Typist Guidelines and/or client preferences and proofread work before submission.
Essential Qualifications
- Typing Speed: Type at least 65 WPM.
- Dictation Transcription Experience: Dictation transcription and word processing experience in an office environment, within the last five-year period.
- Formal Correspondence: Good working knowledge in the creation of formal correspondence, memos, reports, etc.
- Legal Terminology: Legal, workers’ comp terminology needed.
- Microsoft Word Proficiency: Must be proficient in Microsoft Word 2007 or newer, including advanced formatting features.
- Excellent Listening Skills: Must possess excellent listening skills and be comfortable working independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Creating Interrogatories: Experience in creating interrogatories, deposition summaries, legal court documents, etc.
- Legal Citations: Knowledge of the proper format of legal citations.
- Advanced Research Skills: Strong research skills to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.
Success Criteria
- Work Hours: Work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
- Spelling Accuracy: Maintain spelling accuracy rating of 95% or higher after first 30 days.
- Grammar and Formatting Accuracy: Maintain grammar and formatting accuracy rating of 95% or higher after first 30 days.
