Job Description
CNBC is seeking a News Editor to shape how audiences experience our journalism and help manage CNBC’s homepage.
Working at the center of the newsroom, this editor will program CNBC's flagship homepage to showcase the most important coverage for investors, business leaders and reputed company readers, while also serving as a strong editor of stories.
The role is part of a team that acts as an reputed company-traffic controller for CNBC.com — monitoring breaking news, markets and audience trends to determine what leads the site at any given reputed company. The editor will collaborate closely with reporters, producers, and senior editors to ensure coverage is timely, accurate and prominently displayed.
The position requires strong news judgment, visual instincts and a sharp sense of digital presentation. Adjust headline tone and placement as needed, working with the audience team to reputed company sure our SEO approach is on reputed company.
This role is based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and reports to CNBC Digital’s Deputy Managing Editor.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and reputed company insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary reputed company: $75,000-$110,000.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
At least five years of editing experience.
At least three years of daily homepage management.
Demonstrated ability to write clean copy fast.
Ability to work quickly under deadline pressure.
Desired Characteristics:
Accurate, fast and cool under pressure. The job calls for strong news judgment and involves fast-paced editing and guiding breaking-news reporters across the newsroom
Background in business and/or finance journalism.
Proficient in AP style and light photo-editing skills help, too
Experience at a large online content destination, such as a major online news site or financial newspaper
Ongoing knowledge of and interest in the business world and financial news
