Job Overview
As a Packer on our Midnight Shift team (Sunday Night - Thursday Night, 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM), you will be responsible for performing various duties related to the packaging and shipping of castings. You will be an integral part of our production team, working closely with production planning, quality, and metal departments to ensure the accurate and timely packaging and shipping of our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Receives castings and examines accompanying lot tickets to determine if required operations (X-ray, Zyglo, Dimensional Inspection, Magnetic Inspection, etc.) have been completed as per routing procedure sheets.
- Coordinates with supervisors to ensure accuracy and completeness of previous operations and reports any discrepancies.
- Checks Master Heat Log to verify heat numbers and heat batches against approved master heat certifications.
- Sorts castings according to heat numbers, alloy numbers, and approved cavity numbers.
- Types stencils from marking instructions and quality memos.
- Packages marked castings into compartmented shipping containers.
- Routes properly identified castings to X-ray and checks returned films for coinciding and positioning.
Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Assists in implementing EHS Values and policy statements.
- Complies with all department, facility, corporate, and regulatory EHS regulations.
- Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Reports job-related illnesses and injuries.
- Reports safety, health, and environmental concerns to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Attends all EHS training sessions.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).
- Resides within a 50-mile radius of Dover, NJ (no relocation benefit offered).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, with minimal advance notice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Previous packing experience.
Physical Demands & Equipment Used
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Operates various equipment, including Vibropeen machine, electrolytic etch machine, dot matrix marking machine, Air Flow Machine, and Alloy Verification Scanner.
