We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. As a vital member of our team, you will have the opportunity to enhance the quality of life for our clients, particularly those with unique needs such as dementia, developmental disabilities, and long-term care requirements.
Job Overview
In this rewarding role, you will provide personalized care and support to clients in personal care homes or through home community care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
- Providing companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients
- Administering first aid as necessary and ensuring the safety of clients at all times
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization within the client's living space to promote a healthy environment
- Supporting clients with memory care strategies for those experiencing cognitive challenges such as dementia
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs
- Documenting client progress and any changes in condition accurately and promptly
- Assisting clients in engaging with their community through social activities and outings when appropriate
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience in personal care, home care, or long-term care settings (preferred)
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques and working with individuals with developmental disabilities (highly desirable)
- Knowledge of first aid practices (beneficial)
- A strong understanding of memory care principles and the ability to assist clients effectively in managing their daily routines
- A commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for all clients while promoting their independence and dignity
