Position Overview:MHG (Maritime Health Group) is seeking qualified psychologists and psychotherapists to collaborate in providing essential mental health services and 24/7 support to seafarers. The selected candidates will play a vital role in addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by seafarers, including isolation, stress, and the demanding nature of their work environment. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the well-being of individuals working in the maritime industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Mental Health Services: Offer individual and group counseling sessions to seafarers to address a range of mental health concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, loneliness, and occupational stress.
- Offer 24/7 Support: Be available to provide on-call support to seafarers in crisis situations or in need of immediate assistance, ensuring that mental health support is accessible at any time, regardless of location or time zone.
- Collaborate with MHG Team: Work closely with other members of the MHG team, including medical professionals, counselors, and maritime experts, to develop comprehensive mental health support programs tailored to the needs of seafarers.
- Conduct Assessments: Conduct psychological assessments to identify individual needs and develop personalized treatment plans for seafarers, incorporating evidence-based practices and culturally sensitive approaches.
- Provide Training and Education: Offer training sessions and workshops to seafarers and maritime companies on mental health awareness, stress management techniques, and strategies for promoting psychological well-being at sea.
- Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions in compliance with ethical and legal standards, ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of seafarers' information.
Qualifications:
- A doctoral or master's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of experience as a psychologist or psychotherapist.
- Licensure or certification as a psychologist or psychotherapist, with relevant experience in providing mental health services.
- Specialization in areas such as clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or maritime mental health is preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations and cultural sensitivity in addressing mental health needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with seafarers from different backgrounds.
- Flexibility and availability to provide on-call support outside of regular business hours as needed.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining the confidentiality of client information.
