Position Overview – Why This Role Matters
The Remote 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist is a critical member of careerzynith’s 24/7/365 mental health crisis response team. You will be the first point of contact for individuals reaching out via the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) 988 chat and text platform. By delivering rapid, empathetic clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkages, you will help de‑escalate crises, connect callers to lifesaving resources, and ultimately save lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide real‑time clinical screenings and risk assessments via chat, text, and, when needed, telephone.
- Identify suicide risk, safety concerns, and immediate needs, then document findings in accordance with careerzynith’s clinical standards.
- Conduct follow‑up outreach for individuals classified as moderate to high risk, ensuring continuity of care and safety planning.
- Match callers with community resources, referrals, and treatment options that align with their unique circumstances.
- Maintain compliance with all accreditation standards, ethical guidelines, and state/federal regulations governing crisis intervention.
- Participate actively in ongoing supervision, training sessions, and team meetings to continuously improve clinical skills.
- Assist with administrative duties such as case documentation, data entry, and quality‑assurance activities as required.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field; or a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential.
- Experience: Minimum of six months to one year of direct crisis response experience, preferably in a chat or text‑based environment.
- Clinical Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to conduct suicide risk assessments and develop safety plans.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey empathy and clarity through digital channels.
- Customer Service Orientation: High‑level professionalism, active listening, and a calm demeanor under pressure.
- Technology Proficiency: Comfortable navigating electronic health record (EHR) systems, chat platforms, and telehealth tools.
Preferred Qualifications & Additional Assets
- Master’s degree in a mental health discipline or related field.
- Certification as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or similar licensure.
