Mangosteen Solutions partners with high-growth technology startups, providing outsourced finance and back-office operations support that help founders scale their businesses. They are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to manage day-to-day accounting operations for multiple startup clients while supporting broader operational functions.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close processes and financial reporting
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and reconciliations
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
- Prepare financial reporting packages and management dashboards
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Coordinate with external tax firms, auditors, and payroll providers
- Assist with HR administration, payroll coordination, contractor onboarding, and other back-office operations
- Help improve accounting processes and (often non-existing) SOPs
- Communicate directly with startup founders and executive teams
- Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems and operational workflows
- Manage and develop fully remote teams across multiple time zones while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Skills
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience as an Accounting Manager or in a similar finance leadership role
- Demonstrated experience supporting multiple technology startups, either as an in-house Accounting Manager or finance professional across multiple startup companies; or as an external consultant, outsourced accounting professional, or fractional finance partner managing multiple startup clients
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the unique accounting and operational challenges of high-growth startups
- Managing month-end close, financial reporting, payroll coordination, and day-to-day accounting operations is just the baseline for this role and should be second nature
- Experience managing multiple priorities across different organizations/teams or client engagements. Demonstrated people leadership experience, including managing and developing fully remote teams
- Strong emotional intelligence (EQ) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, coach team members, navigate difficult conversations, and maintain high levels of engagement in a remote work environment
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to work directly with founders, executives, and other stakeholders
- Comfortable operating independently in a fully remote environment and fully remote team, including managing staff in multiple time zones
- Experience supporting venture-backed technology companies from early-stage through growth
- Exposure to startup operations beyond accounting, including payroll, HR administration, vendor management, and other back-office functions
- Experience working with blockchain, Web3, cryptocurrency, or digital asset companies
- Proficiency with current cloud-based finance and operations tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, Bill, Ramp, Brex, Expensify, Justworks, Gusto, Rippling, Carta, Pulley, Asana, etc.)
- CPA designation is a plus, but not required
