Uber AI Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Freelance Linguist Program Manager who combines strong program management with deep instructional design capabilities in the Generative AI space. In this role, you will lead operational planning for linguistic AI initiatives and ensure that technical machine learning requirements are translated into effective educational execution tracks.
Responsibilities
- Formulate operational plans, track milestones, and manage task workflows using Uber AI Solutions platforms (including uTask). Take ownership of language data collection pipelines, resource allocation, and real-time operational metrics
- Author highly comprehensive, pedagogically sound instruction sets, prompt guidelines, and gold-standard response templates for Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) and complex multi-turn evaluations
- Build and enforce rigorous quality frameworks and evaluation (Evals) matrices to benchmark linguistic nuance, semantic safety, translation validity, and localized model accuracy
- Act as the primary interface for distributed freelance linguists and language specialists. Explain complex engineering tasks clearly, conduct onboarding sessions, and lead targeted calibration loops to align quality expectations
- Configure and manage automated multi-turn review models, such as consensus alignments, edit-reviews, and sample quality audits to evaluate language accuracy and stylistic consistency
Skills
- Proven professional experience working directly on Generative AI initiatives, specifically focused on crafting guidelines for Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT), building model evaluation datasets (Evals), or analyzing RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) outputs
- Demonstrated ability to construct scalable rulebooks, technical training modules, and evaluation criteria that transform ambiguous engineering objectives into clear, educational instructions for human agents
- Strong background in linguistics, translation studies, computational linguistics, or a related domain. Deep understanding of syntax, semantic validation, and cross-cultural localization principles
- Strong background in managing agile, fast-paced data or localization workflows with thousands of tasks. Familiarity with using operational dashboards and data metrics to evaluate throughput, quality, and pipeline health
- Exceptional capability to educate, guide, and provide actionable, constructive calibration feedback to a highly specialized global network of language professionals
- Experience managing operations within high-growth, entrepreneurial AI data platforms or enterprise human-in-the-loop crowdsourced networks
- Advanced degree in Linguistics, Instructional Design, Computational Linguistics, Translation Studies, or an equivalent technical language field
- Technical familiarity with data orchestration pipelines, programmatic data exchanges, or structured content validation platform
