Latitude Legal is seeking an experienced In-House Healthcare Transactional Counsel to support a California-based healthcare services organization. The role focuses on leading physician practice acquisitions and related healthcare transactions, requiring a highly autonomous and business-oriented lawyer who can manage both complex strategic transactions and routine legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Lead physician practice acquisitions and related healthcare transactions
- Support a well-established healthcare services organization
- Serve as a key legal partner to internal stakeholders on a steady flow of transactions
- Manage major acquisitions and ensure that smaller, day-to-day legal matters receive timely and thorough attention
- Help shape and improve legal operations infrastructure, including building scalable workflows and improving access to key information
- Enhance overall efficiency within the legal function
Skills
- 5+ years of experience practicing healthcare transactional law, M&A, or physician practice acquisitions
- Prior experience at an AMLaw 100 law firm is required
- Substantial healthcare industry experience is required, including significant experience advising healthcare providers, healthcare systems, physician groups, management services organizations (MSOs), or similar healthcare organizations
- Significant experience handling California healthcare transactions is required
- Demonstrated experience supporting high-volume, tuck-in acquisitions of physician practices or provider groups
- Strong experience leading transactions end-to-end, including drafting and negotiating purchase agreements and related ancillary documents
- Proven ability to operate as a client-facing, business-oriented lawyer, partnering closely with internal stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with little to no oversight in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrated reputation for responsiveness, follow-through, and exceptional project management, including the ability to manage both complex strategic transactions and routine day-to-day legal matters with equal attention to detail
- Experience navigating evolving internal processes, with the ability to bring structure and clarity
- Excellent academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school
- Excellent analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding professional references
- Experience building or improving legal infrastructure, such as implementing contract management systems, developing document repositories, and creating scalable workflows, strongly preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory considerations in transactional settings
- Experience reviewing and negotiating payer/provider contracts is a plus
- California Bar licensure preferred but not required
