The Outside Sales Manager role focuses on driving revenue growth through account management, product training, and developing commercial solutions to enhance customer partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned accounts within the territory by executing sales plans, account strategies, consultative selling approaches, and customer engagement initiatives that drive high-impact sales results
- Implement processes that improve customer retention, increase opportunity conversion, and strengthen cross-functional communication across inside sales teams and manufacturer partners
- Deliver strategic insights on competitor activity, customer behavior, and emerging market trends to support regional decision-making and forecast planning
- Build and maintain relationships across Engineering & Standards teams, Operations, and Procurement departments to ensure products are specified and approved
- Work daily with an internal sales team to coordinate quotes, drawings, orders, and pricing updates
- Conduct product training for customers and attend relevant market trade shows and industry events
Skills
- Sales experience within the electrical utility industry, whether from a manufacturer, distributor, electric utility, or a manufacturer's representative firm
- Understanding of electric grid infrastructure and how utility components support the broader system
- Meaningful technical exposure that allows you to navigate engineering and operational discussions
- Structured, disciplined, and capable of independently managing multiple manufacturers and 10+ customer accounts simultaneously
- Outgoing personality and naturally build strong, lasting professional relationships
