[Remote] Principal Machine Learning Engineer/Principal AI Engineer

The role focuses on establishing AI architecture standards and implementation strategies to accelerate enterprise AI adoption across a large-scale smart building ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI architecture strategy and roadmap development
• Design scalable AI/ML systems from data ingestion through inference, monitoring, and optimization
• Build reference architectures, deployment frameworks, and operational playbooks
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and product managers
• Develop edge-to-cloud AI deployment strategies
• Design GenAI, RAG, agentic AI, and LLM-based solutions
• Participate in design reviews, workshops, and technical decision-making sessions
• Create architecture documentation that enables engineering teams to execute independently

Skills

• 10+ years of software or systems engineering experience
• 6+ years focused on production AI/ML solutions
• Expertise in MLOps, model lifecycle management, monitoring, and observability
• Strong experience with distributed AI architectures, edge computing, APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems
• Hands-on GenAI and multi-LLM implementation experience
• Expertise in RAG, vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval systems
• Experience with agent frameworks, multi-agent orchestration, MCP, and tool calling
• Experience with LLM observability tools such as LangSmith, LangFuse, or OpenTelemetry
• Excellent communication and architecture documentation skills
• Industrial, IoT, OT, manufacturing, energy, or building automation experience
• Knowledge of BACnet, MQTT, Modbus, or OPC-UA
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity frameworks
• Experience with predictive maintenance, energy optimization, and operational intelligence use cases
• Containerization, CI/CD, AI governance, and safety controls experience
