Stanford University is seeking a Research Data Analyst 2 for the Center for Population Health Sciences focused on data management and analysis for population health and health equity. The role involves managing a large EHR dataset, conducting statistical analyses, and collaborating with researchers to enhance public health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize and extract data from a variety of source including a large, national, granular, high value health dataset held by PHS. These datasets include EHRs, claims, survey data, medical reports, and laboratory data. The position will be expected to perform quality checks and ensure data are accurate and complete
- Determine additional data collection and reporting requirements
- Design and customize reports based upon data in the database. Monitor regulatory compliance for utilization of the data
- Perform data quality checks to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root cause for data problems or justify solutions to be implemented by others
- Create complex charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation
- Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys
- Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff
- Other duties may also be assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Python programming and its data analysis packages
- Expertise in SQL for data management and data analysis
- Expertise and experience conducting statistical analyses
- Substantial experience with MS Office and analytical programs
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize workload
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas during meetings and in presentations, tailoring technical aspects of the work to the particular audience
- Experience in AI, ML or NLP in EHR data or a strong interest in applying these methods to primary care
- Experience using cloud environment such as Google Cloud or AWS is a plus
- Experience working with large datasets is a plus
- Academic or practical training in public health epidemiology, research methodology, database construction, and biostatistics is a plus
