Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Linktree is a rapidly growing technology company looking for a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Privacy & Compliance. This role involves advising on product development and privacy strategy, ensuring compliance with US and European privacy laws, and collaborating with various teams to support the company's initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing new products and features, and advising on necessary changes
- Developing proactive privacy policies and guardrails for the Product function
- Working with our Privacy team and advising on US and European privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging state privacy regimes
- Working with Product, Engineering, Growth, Brand, Trust and Safety, and other teams to support Linktree’s business and ensure compliance across internal and public-facing initiatives
- Assisting our Support and Operations teams with escalations, disputes, and user issues
- Providing real-time legal advice and clear operational guidance to teams and squads across Linktree
- Supporting privacy operations, including DPIAs, data mapping, vendor assessments, and data governance improvements
- Contributing to cross-functional programs and helping develop processes, guidance, and scalable policies
Skills
- Be qualified to practise law in at least one US state
- Have 7 to 10 years of strong post-qualification experience, with a significant emphasis on product counseling and US and EU privacy law
- Have detailed knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and broader US and European privacy frameworks, as evidenced by CIPP or equivalent certifications
- Have experience advising on technology products, data flows, and platform operations
- Have strong commercial drafting and negotiation experience, including for data protection agreements
- Experience advising on AI, machine learning features, or data governance programs
- Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
- Be a self-starter who is comfortable working with autonomy and driving matters forward
- Have strong business judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach
- Have excellent communication skills – your job is to make the complex simple
- Be comfortable with ambiguity, context-switching, and a fast-paced culture
- Be able to collaborate with global teams and overlap some working hours with teams in other time zones
- Periodic travel for team onsites or cross-functional workshops may be required
- Must be legally authorised to work in the United States
- Experience advising on the Digital Markets Act, Digital Services Act, or other European regulatory frameworks
- Experience in Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, including SaaS, licensing, vendor, and data processing agreements
- Experience advising on marketing initiatives, brand campaigns, creator partnerships, and advertising compliance
- Experience in payments, e-commerce, online platforms, or the creator ecosystem
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts
- Experience supporting Trust and Safety, security, or compliance teams
