They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of customer-facing travel web applications, emphasizing frontend architecture and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of customer-facing travel web applications, with a primary focus on frontend architecture and user experience optimization
- Design, develop, and deploy new features specifically for high-traffic travel booking platforms integrated with third-party APIs
- Act as a customer- and product-focused engineer
- Collaborate closely with product managers and UX designers to translate business requirements into technical solutions tailored for Rocket Travel’s partner platforms
- Conduct advanced A/B testing and data-driven feature enhancements to improve conversion rates and customer engagement, leveraging in-depth knowledge of travel industry user behavior
- Utilize with React and GraphQL, with the opportunity to learn and make contributions on the backend
- Stay abreast of emerging frontend technologies and advocate for the adoption of tools and frameworks that align with the company's product vision
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field of study
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in any job title/occupation/position involving developing scalable and maintainable software solutions
- 5 years of experience with at least one modern programming language, such as Java, Scala, Kotlin, C#, Python, or JavaScript
- 5 years of experience with software development principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and data structures, including schema design and query optimization for dynamic travel data
- 3 years of experience with building and maintaining distributed systems and microservices architecture
- 3 years of experience with relational and non-relational databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, specifically for storing and retrieving travel booking and user profile data
- 2 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (such as Git), and agile development practices
- 2 years of experience in implementing A/B testing frameworks and analyzing user interaction data to drive product decisions in the travel technology domain
- Candidates should be authorized to accept employment in the US from any employer
- Candidates should be willing to start within three weeks of accepting an offer
- Candidates must be able to work a hybrid work schedule with 2-3 days per week in our Chicago office
