Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Tailored Brands is a leading specialty retailer of menswear, and they are seeking a Staff Accountant II to join their Accounting team. The role involves assisting with external reporting, preparation of SEC filings, and internal reporting while collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial documentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, including areas such as equity and share-based compensation
- Support the preparation of internal management reporting packages and financial analyses
- Assist with the preparation of SEC filings and related disclosures, including Forms 10‑K, 10‑Q, 8‑K, Section 16 filings and proxy statements
- Perform tie-outs of SEC filings and supporting schedules, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and audit-ready documentation
- Support the quarterly earnings release process, including coordination with Investor Relations and preparation of supporting materials
- Review peer company filings and disclosures to identify best practices and reporting enhancements
- Prepare GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists and assist with technical accounting research and memo documentation
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and other ad hoc reporting initiatives
- Communicate effectively across functions and contribute both independently and within a team environment
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced public company reporting environment
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Foundational knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Experience supporting financial statement preparation, SEC filings, and/or audit processes
- Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP and reporting tools (e.g., PeopleSoft, Hyperion, Blackline, Workiva)
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and completeness
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes in a fast-paced public company reporting environment
- High level of professionalism, initiative, and work ethic
- CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with public accounting or public company experience preferred
