The National Youth Basketball Academy (NYBA) is a development-focused basketball organization committed to growing the game and strengthening communities. The State Director of Basketball Operations is responsible for launching and scaling youth basketball programs, building partnerships, and ensuring the delivery of NYBA’s curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the successful launch, structure, and expansion of NYBA programs within the state
- Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate high-quality youth coaches
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families and participants
- Secure gym space and manage facility agreements
- Build relationships with schools, sponsors, and community partners
- Lead player recruitment and retention strategies to grow enrollment
- Ensure scheduling, communication, and operational logistics are executed efficiently
- Uphold NYBA’s mission, standards, and values in all programming
- Professionally resolve parent and player concerns
- Represent NYBA with integrity, discipline, and a team-first mindset
Skills
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to negotiate partnerships and venue agreements
- Comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities
- Understanding of basketball terminology and youth development principles
- Must provide 3–5 professional references
- Must pass a background check
- Be a builder — capable of growing programs from the ground up

- Communicate clearly and confidently with families, coaches, and partners

- 3+ years of coaching or basketball operations experience preferred
- Background in event planning or program coordination is a plus
