The Strategic Business Development Manager will identify and expand strategic customer relationships while driving profitable revenue growth across iConn’s global engineering and manufacturing platform.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities within target OEM accounts
- Expand existing customer relationships and identify new strategic accounts
- Build relationships with engineering, sourcing, supply chain, operations, quality, manufacturing, and executive leadership
- Develop strategic account plans focused on sustainable, long-term revenue growth
- Position iConn early in customer product development and sourcing cycles
- Generate and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities
- Lead opportunities from initial customer engagement through production award
- Coordinate RFQs, commercial proposals, quotations, and technical discussions
- Develop winning account strategies based on customer requirements and competitive positioning
- Negotiate commercial agreements while maintaining profitable business growth
- Maintain accurate opportunity pipelines, forecasts, and sales metrics within NetSuite CRM
- Become a trusted advisor to customer organizations, including engineering teams
- Understand customer roadmaps, sourcing strategies, supplier qualification requirements, and manufacturing challenges
- Conduct regular customer visits and executive business reviews
- Support customer escalation activities and ensure timely communication across stakeholders
- Build long-term partnerships based on responsiveness, integrity, and execution
- Work closely with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Manufacturing Operations, and Executive Leadership to ensure customer requirements are understood, risks are managed, and opportunities progress efficiently toward production
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies
- Identify new market opportunities aligned with iConn’s capabilities
- Provide Voice-of-the-Customer feedback to engineering and executive leadership
- Represent iConn at trade shows, conferences, customer meetings, and industry events
- Understand customer qualification processes, RFQ requirements, supplier approval expectations, and production award criteria
- Coordinate internal quotation activities with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams
- Communicate customer requirements, technical expectations, pricing objectives, timelines, and commercial priorities
- Support product transfer, NPI, tooling, and manufacturing readiness activities
- Provide regular management updates on customer activity, pipeline status, wins, challenges, competitive intelligence, and required internal support
Skills
- A minimum of 10 years of proven success in sales, business development, or strategic account management within OEM, EMS, or engineering and manufacturing services organizations
- Demonstrated history of winning complex OEM manufacturing programs
- Experience managing long sales cycles involving engineering, quality, sourcing, operations, and executive decision makers
- Strong understanding of RFQ processes, supplier qualification, cost modeling, first article requirements, and production launch
- Experience working across cross-functional engineering and manufacturing organizations
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational discipline and opportunity management
- Self-motivation and comfort working remotely while maintaining high customer engagement
- Experience using CRM platforms such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Oracle, or equivalent
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Biomedical, Industrial, Materials, Aerospace Engineering, or another related technical discipline
- Experience serving customers in one or more of the following industries is preferred: Life Sciences, Medical Technology, Laboratory & Analytical Systems, Industrial Automation, IoT & Connected Devices, Consumer Products, Sports & Fitness Equipment, Other technology-driven manufacturing markets
- Experience supporting one or more of the following manufacturing areas is highly desirable: Product Industrialization, New Product Introduction, Product Transfer, Cable & Wire Harness Systems, Electromechanical Assemblies, PCB Assemblies, Plastic Injection Molding, Precision Machining, Metal Stamping, Die Casting, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Tooling, Complex System Integration, Global Supply Chain Management, Low-to-High Volume Manufacturing
