About the Role: Senior Pharmacy Technician - Remote in Vermont
As a Senior Pharmacy Technician working remotely from Vermont, you will play a critical role in our Prior Authorization team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional customer service and support to members, customers, and healthcare providers by efficiently processing prior authorization requests for formulary and non-formulary medications. This involves a blend of technical knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a high volume of inbound calls (up to 50-70 per day) from providers and members, addressing their queries and resolving issues related to formulary and benefit coverage.
- Process prior authorization requests accurately and efficiently using various computer systems, job aids, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct clinical reviews for authorizations, adhering to legal and contractual requirements, including turnaround times (TATs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Document interactions with callers as per contractual and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and high-quality service.
- Resolve complex issues and complaints in a timely and professional manner, contributing to high customer satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
- Participate in a comprehensive 5-week training program, which includes working 8:00 am - 5:00 pm local time, Monday through Friday.
- After training, work an 8-hour shift with a 1-hour lunch, with the flexibility to start as early as 5 am and as late as midnight, and be available to work weekends and overtime as needed.
Requirements for Success:
To excel in this role, you must possess:
- An active National Pharmacy Technician Certification from a recognized certifying body such as PTCB, NHA, or The National Board of Prior Authorization Specialist.
- A minimum of 6 months of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality service.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and overtime, as required by the business.
- Residency in Vermont, with a reliable internet connection and a secure, dedicated workspace at home.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to improve Net Promoter Survey (NPS) scores.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not mandatory, the following qualifications can enhance your application:
- Experience with call center systems, such as IEX, which can streamline your workflow and improve customer interactions.
- A background in pharmacy operations or prior authorization processes, which can provide a deeper understanding of the clinical and technical aspects of the role.
