Supervisory Compliance Investigator (Chief Investigator) As a Supervisory Compliance Investigator (Chief Investigator), you will: • Supervise and mentor the regional investigation team at the GS-13 level and below, guiding them in conducting investigations and diverse enforcement initiatives. Additionally, you will take the lead in managing intricate investigations and scrutinizing reports for precision. Your role extends to serving as the principal advisor to the regional directors and deputy associate administrator for field operations on matters of public safety policy. Your expertise and dedication will play a vital role in upholding the integrity of hazardous materials, safety and regulation enforcement. • Supervise the region's hazardous materials compliance investigation program. This includes validation of on-site investigations consistent with its mission and the priorities of the deputy associate administrator and region director. • Coordinate joint investigative activities of PHMSA and other administrations to ensure optimum utilization of compliance resources. Develop and recommend changes in intermodal compliance activities and in the HMR. • Maintain liaison with state agencies in applying compliance standards for hazardous materials transportation. In this regard, incumbent also collaborates with counterparts to update the investigator requirements in the enforcement operations manual. • Serve as principal advisor to the regional director and the deputy associate administrator for field operations on hazardous material compliance investigation activities. • Represent OHMS in meetings with officials of other federal agencies, state and local governments, carriers, manufacturers, trade associations, etc., on hazardous material matters as designated by the national field leadership team. • Execute international travel in support of the region's international cylinder manufacture fitness review obligations.
