About the Position
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher (SPED) to join our team in Rodeo, CA. As a SPED teacher with The Stepping Stones Group, you will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, creating a positive and engaging learning environment, and collaborating with other educators and professionals to develop and implement effective educational plans. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, emotional disabilities, and other special needs
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth and development
- Collaborate with other educators and professionals, including general education teachers, therapists, and administrators, to develop and implement effective educational plans
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to ensure that each student is meeting their full potential
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and involve them in the educational process
- Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in special education, and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Graduate from a teaching program with a degree in special education or a related field
- Current M/M Certification as a Special Education Teacher in CA
- School experience preferred, but not required
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, policies, and procedures, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and other educators and professionals
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, emotional disabilities, and other special needs
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions, including positive behavioral supports and functional behavioral assessments
- Experience with assistive technology and other tools to support student learning and engagement
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students and families from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds
