It is important to note that our Alternative Education Schools/ Programs are designed to respond to those students who have not experienced success in the traditional school environment, who are at-risk of dropping out or who may have already dropped out of the traditional high school. The Alternative Education landscape in BPS consists of 12 schools and programs located throughout the city including Adult Education.Position Overview:The Road to Success (RTS) at Charlestown High School (formerly Diploma Plus) is an alternative education program within Charlestown High School (CHS). It exists to support students with earning a high school diploma, developing a positive self identity and creating plans for after graduation. The program is structured for students to complete in two years. Students have the opportunity to work at their own pace. We are a competency and project based learning community with a Restorative Practice Lens. We focus on three core values: Ubuntu, self awareness, and critical consciousness.The RTS Director will report to the CHS Head of School and serves on the CHS Leadership Team. The Director will execute the vision and manage the daily operations of the Road To Success Program. The Director is responsible for the management and development of teachers and support staff within RTS, as well as overseeing the daily instruction and operations of the program. The RTS Director plans professional development aligned with the CHS school goals, leads the RTS team’s efforts to create a positive, structured, consistent, focused and restorative school culture, and takes responsibility for the operations, teaching and learning within RTS. Terms: BASAS, Group 10B, 211 daysThe BASAS contract year runs from September 1 through August 31. All BASAS members are must work 183 school days with teachers. The additional days beyond the 183 school days shall be agreed upon with your supervisor. These days shall be considered ‘non-scheduled work’ days and should be coded by your supervisor or secretary as ‘S6500’ in the timesheet. The additional days may be fulfilled before, during, or following the school year, all work must be completed between September 1 and August 31.Please refer to www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc (under "Employee Benefits and Policies") for more information on salary and compensation.
