Key Responsibilities
- Transport customer dry van freight safely and efficiently across various regions, including the Midwest, Texas, Northeast, and Southeast.
- Operate state-of-the-art, late-model tractors and trailers equipped with APUs, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Manage your route and schedule to meet delivery deadlines, minimizing delays and maximizing productivity.
- Maintain accurate records and logs, adhering to hours of service regulations and company requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date on industry best practices, safety protocols, and company procedures.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To succeed as a CDL A long haul driver with J&R Schugel Logistics, you'll need:
- A valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience driving a Class A tractor-trailer.
- A strong safety record, with a focus on defensive driving and accident prevention.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with refrigerated or dry van freight.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- A history of safe and efficient driving practices.
- Military experience or other relevant background.
