About the Role
As a Remote Registered Nurse with a focus on evening and weekend shifts, you'll play a critical role in our 24x7/365 Nurse Advice Line call center, providing telehealth triage, health education, and utilization management services to beneficiaries nationwide. You'll utilize your strong clinical background, particularly in emergency care or urgent care, to assess patients' medical conditions remotely, provide immediate care advice, and facilitate appropriate referrals or interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Triage all symptom-based calls, providing recommendations according to approved triage protocols.
- Communicate with beneficiaries primarily by phone, as well as via text, online chat, and email.
- Provide professional nursing assessment and intervention to patients with acute and chronic care needs.
- Accurately document all calls and interactions electronically, ensuring thorough and precise records of patient encounters.
- Mobilize patients and families to employ healthy coping strategies, engage in shared decision-making, and utilize community resources.
- Identify gaps in patient services, developing and utilizing alternative resources as needed.
- Exercise professional nursing judgment and advanced communication skills to network with various professionals, agencies, and systems.
- Demonstrate mandatory and clinical competencies of the position.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and providers to improve the clinical experience for patients, staff, and providers.
- Provide health education and prepare individuals for primary care manager/physician visits.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- BSN or ADN (with microbiology course/lab) required.
- Current, Active Compact License issued by the state of residence and in good standing with the Board of Registered Nurses.
- Minimum of 3 years' clinical nursing experience as an RN, with significant experience in emergency care or urgent care settings.
- Willingness to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to triage per triage guidelines and protocols, assessing patients and applying solid decision-making to achieve highest patient outcomes in a quick and timely manner.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient level of experience with Microsoft Office applications, keyboarding skills, and strong technical aptitude.
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Previous experience working within a military population.
- RNs who are retired military, family members of Active Duty Service Members (ADSM), or have worked at an MTF or VA center.
- Previous experience in telephone triage using electronic triage software and computerized medical protocols (preferably 1 or more years of experience).
- Call Center Experience (Inbound) and metric-driven environment work experience.
