Key Responsibilities: Making a Difference in the Classroom
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, aligned with the school's curriculum and teaching style
- Manage classroom behavior, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with school staff, including teachers, administrators, and other substitutes
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
- Take advantage of our free, online training resources to enhance your teaching practices and stay up-to-date on best practices in education
Essential Qualifications: The Skills and Qualities We Look For
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications: Additional Skills That Set You Apart
- Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related role
- Special education experience or training
