As a Preschool Educator with Lutheran Services Florida, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and implementing daily lesson plans that cater to the educational and enrichment needs of pre-school age children
- Creating a safe and effective learning environment, including arranging classrooms into distinctive learning areas
- Screening and assessing children to determine developmental and educational needs, and developing individual education plans
- Monitoring meal and snack periods, classroom and restroom activities, and playground activities to ensure a safe environment
- Communicating with parents through conferences, written correspondence, and telephone to keep them informed of their child's progress
- Conducting health checks, reporting health concerns, and maintaining accurate records
- Ensuring lessons and classroom activities align with the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Standards
- Maintaining a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Two years of experience teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten age children
- Working knowledge of brain development, child development, and culture and practices for early childhood
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills
- The ability to plan, organize, and conduct early childhood education programs
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area) are preferred
