Integration International Inc. is seeking a Secure Research Computing Consultant to support the onboarding of research labs into a secure high-performance computing environment. The role involves collaborating with researchers and IT teams to ensure secure migration and integration of research data workflows within a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate onboarding activities across research, IT, and compliance teams
- Track project timelines, deliverables, and operational tasks
- Develop onboarding checklists, runbooks, and process documentation
- Work with researchers and principal investigators to understand data and computational requirements
- Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for optimization and secure migration
- Lead onboarding of research projects into the secure HPC environment
- Resolve blockers and coordinate with cross-functional teams for timely implementation
- Coordinate data import/export activities for research projects
- Support installation, configuration, and optimization of scientific software and computational pipelines
- Ensure alignment with security controls such as NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, and FISMA
- Provide training and guidance to researchers using the secure environment
- Create user-facing documentation, FAQs, and onboarding guides
- Troubleshoot research computing, security, and data migration issues
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–3+ years of experience in research computing, IT, or data-intensive environments
- Familiarity with Linux-based or HPC environments (clusters, cloud research platforms, or large-scale analytics environments)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience organizing and tracking multi-step technical or data-related projects
- Excellent documentation, organization, and attention to detail
- Experience with NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, FISMA, HIPAA, IRB requirements, or similar compliance frameworks
- Experience supporting secure research environments in healthcare, academic, or regulated settings
- Background in bioinformatics or life sciences research
- Knowledge of SLURM, modules, workflow managers, or other HPC tools
- Experience with data migration, scientific software installation, or HPC operations
- Advanced science or engineering degree preferred
